Gallery O2 began business in Omori in November 2005. The Omori area of Tokyo has been the home of many famous writers and artists since the Meiji and Showa eras and notable memorial museums continue to celebrate this heritage. Gallery O2 endeavors to contribute to this cultural tradition and milieu by promoting work that exhibits the artist's sensibility in balance with the artisan's perfection of skill.

The manager of the gallery, Yoko Ikeda, brings 30 years of experience and expertise in the art world. Ikeda managed a gallery specialising in modern and contemporary art in the renowned Ginza district of Tokyo 1976-1988; she then worked as an independent art dealer in London, England and Tokyo till 2005, then started Gallery O2 in November of that year.

The gallery has a broad scope spanning diverse cultures and media. In addition to the strong representation of contemporary Japanese artists are international artists from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Spain, the UK, and USA.
